A park with hundreds of years old trees around a beautiful baroque chateau on the edge of town Opava was used for creation of a nine-hole golf course there. And suddenly there is old England, although baroque was not very successful on the British Isles, because the course is well integrated into all the bushes and groups of trees, there are paths around them and drains send water to the pond where the best hole of the course is situated. You can just hit your ball to green, which is easy to say, but your psyche works.
If we start at the beginning, Nr. 1 is an abrupt left dogleg where green is among trees and it pays to direct the hit properly. The second hole is the longest one, par 5 with double dogleg. The third hole has a water hazard in front of green after left break of the path. The fourth hole follows the driving range and turns to the right. Hole Nr. 5 is a dogleg again, this time to the left. And Nr. 6 is a challenge for us because there is only a water hazard between the tee and green. The seventh and eighth holes are the only flat holes, the first one is longer, the second one is par 3. The ninth hole leads us back to the chateau.
The course has both driving range and chipping green and there is also putting green near the clubhouse which is not in the chateau area but near the car park. Since 1997, when the Kravaře Zámecký GC was established, the course has been changed many times and the present form is suitable for all types of golfers. The environment is more than golf-friendly, so golfers like to come back here.
