Nowadays it is already an eighteen-hole course which was created as a nine-hole course first, with two holes in wood which frightened even the best golfers, already after 1961. Than much time had passed until the complete eighteen was created. Also the background has moved from a mini clubhouse to “radios” which is a building on the edge of Poděbrady guarded by two high antennas behind its gate.
The easier walking along the flat course is, the more malicious spots are on some holes. Water, water and again water. Somewhere as a gulley, somewhere as a stream, swamp or a pond. It is quite enough but the course is very well separated by high-grown “wind-breaks” of trees, so even possible failures will be compensated by good feeling from walking in the country.
At first sight it might seem to be easy, but experienced golfers go through course guide carefully. All holes are interesting somehow, on the second hole you can easily collect more hits, the original first hole is Nr. 4 now and has also its maliciousness and behind it there is Nr. 5 and water again. Interesting holes are Nr. 10 and two wood ones, Nr. 12 and13. When crossing these holes you might see a steamship in the wood among trees. No, it is not a sight mystification; it is a steamship sailing on near Elbe.
Each green is specific, there are water hazards in front of many of them, you will enjoy golf completely here. As winter is usually temperate here, you can play during all year. And if there is more snow, there is also, besides reception and restaurant, an indoor driving range in the main building. There are also a driving range, putting and chipping green outside.
This is a domicile of the Poděbrady Golf Club. And one advice – mark your balls. Some time in the future you can buy them back from the staff if you lose them in water or woods. Simply – Poděbrady is good for heart and it will stay in your heart.
