Socrates was a Greek philosopher. His name as the name of the club shows that his spirit and ideas are reflected here every moment, at all activities, as if he directed all the efforts around via his presence. When you walk along the local course you have a feeling that it has been here ever since, created by nature without any men’s help. Raw nature developing by itself helped to create and shape the holes. Every bush or tree has its own place here without being in the way. There are also boulders and stones. There is a piece of history in one place, although from a different country. Natural boulders create a gate like in Stonehenge. It is almost a mystic spirituality.
The course is not unfriendly concerning play or physical demands, but you must play deliberately and purposefully. No matter if sand bunkers or trees or bushes or even systems of water hazards frighten you. E.g. on hole Nr. 12, which is par 4 of 303 metres, where there are – consider – 11 water hazards. And on the top of that there are “only” nine water hazards on the seventeenth hole. Maybe the reason is that it is only 285 metres long. This course is really something unique and special.
Moreover, there is a unique clubhouse with lawn on its roof and stone walls, stone floor, fireplace – a real log-cabin. This is a domicile of the Sokrates G&CC. This area is an honour for a special taste of the designer who decided to create something special, something unique in the mountain meadows.
No matter if you are a good or not so good golfer, you should come here at least once and breath in the fluid of this golf paradise.
